Couture fashion week may have ended last week but Mr. Bill Boiz, designer of label Prince William III is still worth writing about. I will admit going into this show I didn't know much about this designer's style but I was quickly brought up to speed as I saw an eccentric but well tailored look.
Tartans, anyone? Bold plays with this v. traditional pattern. It's not just your family's kilt anymore. Double breasted is hot again. The 3 piece suit (jacket, vest and pants) was also noted as we begin move out of this sloppy trend of the blazer with the untucked shirt (thank God). Formal wear remixed. Tails shown with tartan bermuda shorts. Maybe. At the v. least, kudos to him for having the design chutzpah to pull it off.
If there was one way to describe this show it was Palm Beach meets P. Diddy. Inspiration and whimsy abounded off the runway. It was pure 1930's society era inspiration with the 21st century rock star twist. Needless to say, after the last look, I was curious to see who the designer was since I was not familiar with him going into show. I was a little taken aback when a rather distinguished and bearded gentleman, Bill Boiz, strutted down the runway, with in his straw hat and cane with his cane, embodying what he was inspired to create.
